Coppell Varsity Squad returned to the toughest meet in the state, Texas Women's Classic. Over a grueling two days, girls battled their way onto the podium, some wrestling as many as nine matches. Despite dealing with injuries and strategic errors during matches, the girls still finished third in what is considered the hardest girls meet in Texas, even harder than the state championships due to the inclusion of tough 5A and 4A schools mixed in with 6A programs.
59 teams, including current 6A state champs Allen (1st 150 points), 4A state champs Dumas (2nd 143 points), Frisco, and other dominant teams from the district, region, and state, as far out as Houston and El Paso.
Elvia Murguia had varsity debut in the 185 pound weight class and wrestled 20lbs lighter than any other opponent.
All veteran wrestlers won at least one match.
Varsity Cowgirls placed 3rd 138.5. (only one point more than 4th place Frisco)
