Coppell Football delivered a historic performance Friday night, defeating Richardson 76-28 at Eagle-Mustang Stadium behind eight touchdowns from quarterback Carter Zingelmann. The victory gave head coach Antonio Wiley his 50th win at Coppell and established new school records for points scored in a game and touchdowns accounted for by an individual player.

Zingelmann completed 23 of 27 passes for 268 yards and five touchdowns while rushing for 112 yards and three scores. His eight total touchdowns set a Coppell single-game record as the Cowboys amassed 529 yards of offense, including 268 passing and 261 rushing.

The win improved Coppell to 7-2 overall and 5-1 in District 7-6A, extending its winning streak to two games and building momentum ahead of the UIL playoffs.

Before kickoff, Wiley emphasized the importance of continued improvement following the Cowboys' 37-10 victory over Plano West.

"I just feel we want to be playing our best football going into the playoffs," Wiley told Champion Sports Radio. "I think we just got to keep going one week at a time, trying to be a better version of what we were the week before."

Coppell wasted little time putting that message into action.

Zingelmann opened the scoring with a touchdown pass to Jackson Echols before adding a 15-yard rushing touchdown. A second touchdown connection with Echols gave the Cowboys a 20-0 lead midway through the first quarter.

After Richardson answered with a touchdown, Zingelmann broke free for a 38-yard scoring run on third down. Zavier Kichan added the two-point conversion, giving Coppell a 28-7 advantage after one quarter.

The Cowboys continued their offensive surge throughout the second quarter, scoring touchdowns on all eight first-half possessions to take a 56-21 lead into halftime.

Jacob Anene led Coppell's receiving corps with six catches for 105 yards and two touchdowns. Echols added six receptions for 46 yards and two scores, while Diego Rodriguez contributed four catches for 34 yards and a touchdown. Rodriguez's scoring reception capped a five-play, 50-yard drive that pushed Coppell's lead to 49-14.

Jayden George contributed 63 rushing yards and a touchdown on nine carries, helping the Cowboys maintain an effective ground attack alongside Zingelmann.

By halftime, Coppell had accumulated 414 yards of offense, and Zingelmann had accounted for seven touchdowns, tying the school's single-game record.

The record-breaking moment arrived in the third quarter after Coppell's defense forced a turnover deep in Richardson territory. Aaron Isbell recovered a fumble, setting up Zingelmann's fifth touchdown pass of the night, a completion to Anene along the back of the end zone.

The score gave Zingelmann eight total touchdowns and extended Coppell's lead to 63-21.

While the offensive production dominated the headlines, Coppell's defense delivered against a Richardson team featuring one of the area's most productive running backs. Kingston McAdams entered the matchup approaching 1,000 rushing yards on the season, but the Cowboys prevented him from taking control of the game.

Matthew Epps led Coppell with 11 tackles, three tackles for loss and a forced fumble. Lincoln Gardner recorded five tackles and two tackles for loss, while sophomore Brody Mitchell contributed five tackles, a tackle for loss and a pass breakup.

Wiley praised the development of Mitchell and senior Lucas Campbell during his pregame interview, emphasizing the importance of leadership and opportunities for younger players.

"I'm watching Lucas Campbell become the senior leader on the defense that we need him to become," Wiley said. "And then I'm watching Brody Mitchell just come into his own as a sophomore."

Coppell's depth continued to show in the second half. Kichan added a four-yard rushing touchdown, while Tristan Mori-McKee scored from 11 yards out late in the fourth quarter to complete the record-setting 76-point performance.

The victory also marked Coppell's 350th win in program history, according to Champion Sports Radio.

For Wiley, his 50th victory came faster than any previous head coach in Coppell history had reached that milestone. The achievement reflects the sustained success of a program that has continued developing talent while competing at a high level in District 7-6A.

With two consecutive victories and 113 combined points against Plano West and Richardson, the Cowboys appear to be finding their offensive rhythm at the right time.

Coppell closes the regular season Thursday, November 5, against Plano East at Buddy Echols Field before beginning its UIL Class 6A playoff run.
