McKINNEY, Texas | October 30-31, 2026
Coppell's boys and girls golf teams finished sixth overall at the Seventh Annual Four-Ball Tournament, hosted by Coppell Golf at WestRidge Golf Course in McKinney. The event is the program's only tournament that brings boys and girls golfers together in mixed partnerships. Coppell entered five teams in the two-round competition, with three finishing under par.
Seniors Jack Patton and sophomore Adira Navarathinam led Coppell with a two-round score of 140 (-4), tying for 18th place among 50 teams. The pairing opened with an impressive five-under-par 67 before closing with a 73 in the second round.
Unlike traditional stroke-play tournaments, four-ball allows two golfers to compete as partners while playing their own ball. Only the lower score between the two players counts on each hole, creating opportunities for teammates to complement one another's strengths and recover from difficult holes.
Patton opened with an individual round of 74 that included three birdies, while Navarathinam contributed a 76. Their combined play produced Coppell's best team round of the tournament.
Sophomore Rishi Bapna and senior Sabrina Tam finished tied for 23rd at 141 (-3). The partnership demonstrated consistency across both rounds, opening with a two-under-par 70 before improving to a 71 (-1) in the second round. Bapna recorded individual rounds of 76 and 72, finishing at 148 (+4).
Junior Nicolas Brown and senior Joanna Ramirez tied for 30th with a two-round score of 143 (-1). Brown delivered Coppell's strongest individual performance, shooting a one-under-par 71 in the opening round followed by an even-par 72. His two-day total of 143 (-1) was the lowest individual score among Coppell's competitors.
Coppell's remaining two partnerships finished tied for 38th at 149 (+5). Seniors Charlie Sauer and Mia Rivera opened with a 76 before improving by three strokes to a 73 in the second round. Sauer recorded individual scores of 77 and 73, showing improvement over the course of the competition.
Freshman Gabe Gilbert and sophomore Kavya Passi rounded out Coppell's lineup, recording rounds of 73 and 76 for their two-day total. Gilbert contributed individual rounds of 74 and 76, gaining valuable experience against a competitive varsity field.
McKinney Boyd captured the tournament championship with a two-round score of 127 (-17), edging Prosper by one stroke. Northwest Nelson finished third at 129 (-15). The field also featured teams from Southlake Carroll, Allen, Frisco Reedy, Flower Mound and Prosper Rock Hill.
The tournament continued Coppell's experience with four-ball competition following a strong performance at the 2025 Southlake Four-Ball Tournament, where Coppell finished third in the combined team standings. That event featured Sauer and Riya Bapna finishing second among partnerships, while Patton and Nethra Sheri placed fourth.
This year's competition provided another opportunity for Coppell's boys and girls golfers to compete together in a format that emphasizes cooperation, consistency and course management.
With three partnerships finishing under par and contributions from athletes across multiple grade levels, Coppell gained valuable tournament experience while continuing to develop both programs ahead of the spring championship season.
