Friday, April 19th, the Cowboys ran in the Regional Meet at UT Arlington. If the prelims were any indication of how the weekend was going to go, then the Cowboys were in great shape. Saturday April 20th would be the running finals. This was the day the Cowboys would find out if the State Meet in Austin was in their future. Due to rain and lightning, the meet was canceled on Saturday and moved to Monday April 22nd.
Monday brought us opened skies and a sunny afternoon. A perfect setting for a regional meet. In fact, the only storm that day was the storm the Cowboys created on the track. The Cowboys brought 5 events to the regional meet. After the meet had concluded, they claimed a state berth in 4 of those events. The 4x100m Relay (Ayrion Sneed, Harry Hassmann, Rodney Ates, Matthew Maldima) earned a state berth with a 2nd place finish with a time of 41.34. Aidan McFarlane is the Regional Champion with a 1st place finish and a PR of 13.75. Matthew Maldima is the Regional Champion in the 100m Dash with a time of 10.38. Matthew is also the Regional Champion in the 200m Dash with a time of 21.3. Good luck in Austin Cowboys!
