Historic Season ends at the STATE Semi-Finals Game vs San Antonio Clark

By the end of the first quarter the Cowgirls were tied with San Antonio Clark, 8-8. Jules Lamendola had all 8 of those points. As the second quarter began, Allyssa Potter made a three to give the Cowgirls the lead. Ella Spiller stole the ball, passed to Waverly Hassman, Hassman passed it back and the Spiller was able to get an easy bucket in the paint. By the end of the first half, the Cowgirls were down 19-21. The third quarter ended with the Cowgirls up again, 34-32. The Cowgirls are up 36-34 when Coach Murphy calls a timeout leading to the nail-biting conclusion. It’s Coppell’s ball. With a minute left, Spiller gets fouled, missing the front end of the 1 and 1. With 45 seconds left Macey Mercer is shooting a 1 and 1 makes both putting the cowgirls up with a score of 45-40. Clark hits a three, score 45-43. Mercer gets fouled again and makes both, the score is now 47-43. Clark converts a 3 point play with a make while getting fouled, score is now 47-46. Mercer gets fouled again making the front 1 of 2 for a score of 48-46. Clark comes down and hits a three point shot at the buzzer to take the win at 48-49. Overall, everyone for Coppell played their hearts out towards the end of the game, and each one of them deserves recognition for the accomplishments they’ve achieved this whole season. The historic season saw incredible accomplishments with an overall record of 38-4 and a first ever trip to the state tournament. The senior class did such an amazing job throughout the year and will be missed so much. We are so proud of the coaches, team, families, community, administrators and all those that help make such a run possible.
