The Coppell Cowboys initiated the game with a kick to the McKinney Lions, beginning what would be a frigid night for both the players and audience. Despite the cold, the Lions exhibited immense fire power within the ground game, with numerous runs, ultimately resulting in a touchdown within the first minutes of the game. Unfortunately, the Cowboys were unable to respond to the explosive offensive run game from the Lions, punting the football with little gain throughout the drive on many possessions. The Cowboys fired back executing multiple completions to Zack Darkoch and Carter Kincaid resulting in a passing touchdown from Jack Fishpaw to Baron Tipton. The Lions retaliated against this spark of life by the Cowboys, continuing to the ground game, and capitalizing on numerous lengthy runs to score yet another touchdown. The Cowboys offense were unable to locate the momentum within the previous drive and punted the ball once more to the Lions. The Cowboy’s defense established through the efforts of Lucas Frederick and Jake Logsdon leading to a halftime score of 21-7. The Cowboys gained possession of the ball entering the second half, but once again they were held by the Lion’s defense and were forced to punt. The Cowboy’s defense continued to experience the pressure of the Lion’s run scheme. Jack Fishpaw responded with a beautiful 60 yard touchdown to Zack Darkoch. The Lions run game continued. The Cowboys managed to string together multiple touchdowns from Luca Grosoli and Baron Tipton, but unfortunately the Cowboys ran out of time to make a proper comeback. The final score of the matchup was 26-44 and a Cowboys loss. The loss ends to an amazing 9-2 season by the Cowboy’s players and coaching staff. The future is bright for Coppell football and is sure to be filled with tremendous wins and playoff appearances in the near future.
