The Coppell mixed doubles pair of Vinay Patel and Lindsay Patton wrapped up their season with a 3rd place finish at State. Tuesday morning started with a two hour rain delay. After the lengthy delay, the pair squared off with Austin Vandegrift. The Cowboys prevailed 6-4, 3-6, 6-4. The match lasted over two hours and the pair was allowed one hour to regroup for the semi-final match with Clear Springs. That lengthy first round match had taken a physical toll on Lindsay and Vinay. They dropped the first set to Springs 4-6 before rallying back to win the second set 7-5. In the third set of the semis cramps kept the team from being able to pull out the victory. The final count was 4-6, 7-5, 0-6.
Vinay and Lindsay finished the year as the third place team in the state of Texas. They posted 33 wins and just 3 losses. Their only 3 losses came to the two teams who met in the state title match (Clear Springs & Plano West). Plano West would go on to win the state title.
