Last night the Coppell Cowboys faced the Hebron High School Hawks at home. From start to finish, it was an uphill battle. The Hawks were well prepared and came out swinging. The Cowboys’ defense stopped the Hawks early on, giving the Cowboys’ offense the opportunity to score. Unfortunately, the Cowboys’ offense couldn’t capitalize in finding the endzone. Multiple penalties and other mistakes hung over the offense like a dark cloud. The Cowboys’ special teams were able to flip the field and not give the Hawks ideal field position, but the Hawks still had the momentum. This was not the same Coppell football team that took on the Marauders last week.
Defensively, the Cowboys started well. LB Ike Odimegwu, had 7 tackles. LB Jack McAdams, had nine tackles and a tackle for a loss. DB’s Isaiah Nichols and Weston Polk had six tackles and a pass break up each. Two of Nichols’ tackles were for a loss.
The Cowboys struggled the most offensively. RB Malkam Wallace, rushed for 39 yards off four carries. WR’s Dylan Nelson and Andrew Nelson, both scored on receptions from QB, Jack Fishpaw. D. Nelson, had seven receptions for 55 yards, and A. Nelson, had two catches for 45 yards. WR Charlie Barker, had eight receptions for 48 yards. Fishpaw, threw for 184 yards and two touchdowns.
