Determination defined the day as the Coppell Cowboys battled past Abilene Wylie 10-9 on August 4 at the Coppell High School Tennis Center, improving to 3-0 on the season.

After opening the year with two convincing victories over Frisco Wakeland and Heritage, Coppell faced its toughest challenge yet. The match remained close throughout, but the Cowboys continued to fight for every point and found a way to come out on top.

Coppell gained an early edge in doubles play behind wins from Kasi Kavali and Ethan Yang, who earned a 4-2, 4-0 victory at No. 1 boys doubles, and Steve Jack and Cody Chow, who followed with a straight-set win at No. 2. Extra doubles matches also proved valuable, as Ryan Juramongkol and Arnav Ambegaonkar, Sunny Tupurani and Ivan Morales, Ananya Miyapuram and Rachel Howe, and Srushti Shelar and Sofia Rothey all secured victories, with the latter two teams winning dramatic super tiebreaks.

The Cowboys continued to battle in singles. Ethan Yang, Steve Jack, Eshaan Reddy, and Cody Chow each earned key boys singles victories, while Gloria Sun, Mihika Modi, and Anusha Patki delivered important points on the girls side. Patki's comeback win, capped by a 13-11 super tiebreak, was one of the day's biggest moments.

"Everybody worked hard and came through to get the win at the end of the day."

Following the hard-fought victory, the team celebrated with lunch at a local Thai restaurant. The celebration came with an unexpected challenge, however, as the restaurant's spice level proved tougher than many expected.

Everybody was sweating and crying because of the spice level.

With the resilient win, Coppell improves to 3-0 and continues to build confidence early in the season.
