The Coppell Cowgirls battled throughout but came up short in a 59–54 road loss at Marcus on January 16, a game that remained within reach until the final minutes.
Coppell stayed competitive by attacking the paint and creating second chances, finishing with 32 total rebounds, including 11 on the offensive glass. Those extra possessions helped the Cowgirls counter Marcus’ late-game push and keep pressure on the scoreboard.
Prisha Kolhe led Coppell with 17 points, providing steady scoring and poise in extended minutes. Adriana Reijnen and Amber Coffey added 14 points apiece, combining interior finishes with timely perimeter scoring to keep Coppell within one or two possessions for much of the second half. Ashley Hall and Molly Crawford contributed defensively and on the boards, helping Coppell stay connected during momentum swings.
The Cowgirls showed efficiency from inside the arc, converting consistently on two-point opportunities, and moved the ball well enough to generate open looks. Coppell also limited turnovers enough to stay composed in a hostile road environment, finishing with more assists than giveaways as a team.
Defensively, Coppell forced Marcus into contested possessions, recording multiple deflections and holding strong in half-court sets. Marcus ultimately capitalized late with timely baskets and free throws to seal the game, creating just enough separation down the stretch.
Despite the result, the performance reflected Coppell’s balance and competitiveness, with multiple players scoring in double figures and the team matching Marcus physically for four quarters. The Cowgirls will look to build on the rebounding effort and balanced scoring as district play continues.
The next game is at home this Tuesday against Hebron at 5:45 PM.
