On a Hero Night that recognized veterans and first responders, Coppell delivered a complete performance on the field. Before kickoff, the Cowboys honored U.S. Marine Corps veteran and Purple Heart recipient Dr. Blake Mallory, who took part in the honorary coin toss. Coppell Police and Fire Departments were honored, following a team moment of silence.

Coppell used a complete team performance Friday night to overwhelm Timber Creek 68-7 at Buddy Echols Field, entering district play with momentum after a dominant non-district finale.

Quarterback Carter Zingelmann completed 28 of 33 passes for 310 yards, five touchdowns and no interceptions. His 28 completions tied Coppell’s single-game school record.

The Cowboys (2-1) scored in all three phases. They forced four turnovers, recorded a safety on a botched Timber Creek punt and returned a blocked punt for a touchdown.

Coppell opened with a methodical 59-yard drive capped by Zingelmann’s 1-yard touchdown run and a two-point conversion. A mishandled Timber Creek punt then rolled out of the end zone for a safety, giving the Cowboys an early 10-0 advantage.

Timber Creek cut the margin to 10-7 late in the first quarter, but Coppell seized control in the second. Qor’Darrius Udeh returned an interception for a touchdown, and Aaron Isbell recovered a fumble that set up Zavier Kichan’s 3-yard scoring run. Coppell carried a 39-7 lead into halftime.

Zingelmann and the offense kept rolling after the break. Jackson Echols turned a short pass into a 67-yard touchdown on Coppell’s second play of the third quarter. Echols finished with five catches for 101 yards and a touchdown.

Jacob Anene caught six passes for 68 yards and two touchdowns, while Corson Lindley added four catches for 60 yards and a 37-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter. Carson Hodge also caught a touchdown pass.

Kichan led Coppell’s ground game with 56 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries. Zingelmann added 47 rushing yards and a score.

The Cowboys defense repeatedly disrupted Timber Creek’s offense. Anthony Lewis intercepted a pass in the end zone, and Madden Montague recovered a blocked punt and returned it for a touchdown in the fourth quarter. Isbell finished with a sack and a fumble recovery.

Coppell amassed more than 440 yards of total offense and converted all six extra-point attempts.

The headline-grabbing numbers belonged to Zingelmann and Coppell’s playmakers, but the Cowboys’ depth made the success possible. Behind an offensive line of Tyler Anderson, Austin Heitz, Owen Olvera, Brayden Marrs and Tejas Ravilla, Zingelmann was efficient throughout the night, and Coppell found room to run.

Coppell’s special-teams and defensive units also supplied the hidden momentum plays: punt pressure contributed to a safety, Montague turned a blocked punt into a touchdown, and Mechsner was perfect on six extra-point tries. Those plays helped turn a close first quarter into a runaway victory.

The Cowboys open district play next week on the road against Berkner.
