Coppell Girls Basketball delivered a poised and resilient performance Tuesday night, knocking off Guyer 54–51 behind a dominant second half and elite offensive efficiency down the stretch.
The opening half was a grind. Coppell battled through early shooting struggles and turnovers, but stayed within striking distance thanks to defensive activity and second-chance opportunities. While shots were slow to fall in the first quarter, the Cowboys competed on the glass and generated extra possessions, setting the stage for a momentum shift after halftime.
That shift came quickly.
Coppell exploded out of the locker room with one of its most efficient stretches of the season. The Cowboys shot at an elite clip in the third quarter, dramatically cutting down turnovers. Ball movement improved, spacing opened the floor, and Coppell consistently converted quality looks at the rim and from the perimeter.
Adriana Reijnen anchored the surge on both ends. The junior forward finished with a strong night defensively, recording multiple blocks and deflections while shooting efficiently and providing interior stability when it mattered most. Her presence helped Coppell control the paint and close possessions during key moments.
The efficiency carried into the fourth quarter as Coppell continued to execute under pressure. The Cowboys maintained composure in a tight finish. Several lineups delivered high-impact minutes, with combinations featuring Prisha Kolhe, Lauren VanPelt, Mallory Cooper, and Avary Campbell producing strong two-way results. Cooper was perfect from the field in limited touches, while Campbell and Coffey provided defensive disruption and timely contributions.
Despite Guyer’s late push, Coppell answered with smart decisions and timely stops. The Cowboys finished the night overcoming a higher turnover rate with shot quality, rebounding, and defensive activity.
The win showcased Coppell’s depth, versatility, and ability to adjust within a game. It was a complete team effort built on efficiency, defensive intensity, and trust in multiple lineups.
Coppell continues its season with momentum following the statement victory and looks ahead to the next stretch of competition as district play approaches, December 19th, 3:00 PM at Little Elm.
