Coppell Varsity Tennis continued its undefeated start to the season with an 18-1 victory over Berkner on August 18 at the Coppell High School Tennis Courts, improving to 6-0.
The final score was decisive, but the Cowboys also battled challenging conditions as temperatures peaked at 105 degrees during the match. The score doesn't reflect the battle with the heat on court.
Coppell swept all seven doubles matches. Prabhat Pandey and Arnav Ambegaonkar earned a 4-0, 4-0 victory, while the girls doubles teams of Chloe Ahmad and Madison Fang, Anusha Patki and Srushti Shelar, and Ananya Miyapuram and Rachel Howe each won without dropping a game. Ryan Juramongkol and Sofia Rothey also recorded a 4-0, 4-0 victory in mixed doubles.
Ambegaonkar highlighted the day by not dropping a game in either doubles or singles. After his 4-0, 4-0 doubles win with Pandey, he defeated Draylon Mason 4-0, 4-0 in singles.
Coppell's depth showed throughout singles play. Ivan Morales Miranda, Leyton Wang, Sunny Tupurani, Ananya Miyapuram, Anusha Patki, Srushti Shelar, Rachel Howe, and Morgan Fang also earned 4-0, 4-0 victories.
The Cowboys won 18 of 19 varsity matches to remain unbeaten at 6-0.
JV Red also turned in a dominant performance, defeating Berkner 19-0.
