For the first time, the Round-Up that has been hosted in Coppell's Fieldhouse for numerous years is split into a two day event with girls only on Thursday. 14 teams total entered the festival-style meet, allowing girls to wrestle up to 5 matches regardless of outcome. Incredible showing from several varsity athletes, and the success in JV and 9th grade demonstrates the growing success of the middle school pipeline for girls wrestling. Opponents included: Bryan Adams, Celina, Colleyville Heritage, Frisco Heritage, Frisco Centennial, Dallas Samuell, Diamond Hill-Jarvis, LD Bell, Lewisville, RL Turner, Skyline, and Woodrow Wilson. Team Captains Sr. Karissa Godhia and Sr. Ava Payne win all five matches; returning state qualifier Piper Carrell Jr. also undefeated in all rounds. Upcoming Anna Lopez Jr. and Cassie Bonacci Sr. display dominance in their weight class categories. Ishitha Mallidi So. enters varsity for the first time at 114 and wins all matches. Vivian Pargas Fr. attempts varsity for the first time after strong showing in middle school. JV and FR also looked great. Emma Pehl So. goes 5-0 in dominant high school debut. Strong athleticism and potential seen in Jaylen Hobbs So. and Kassie Garcia So. with multiple wins. All freshmen girls win at least one match. Excellent showing from Laura Lucio, Reece Murry, Haila Hibler, Claire Gutierrez, Priyanka Halunde, Christeena Job, Gabrielle Griffin, Fiona Era, Gia Mathew, Shivani Kaarlapudi, and Binitta Nitto. Girls hosted first ever Diaper Drive as part of the Round-Up. Over two truckloads full of diapers, wipes, and other baby goods were collected from Coppell families and all teams in lieu of team fees. All proceeds will go to the Hope Supply Co. in Dallas, TX.
