Coppell stole the lead late and defeated Prosper 7-4 on Thursday to win Game 1 of the Regional Quarterfinal Series.
The Cowboys trailed 4-3 in the top of the sixth inning when TJ Pompey hit a game changing 3 run home run on a 2-2 count to give Coppell the lead.
Andrew Nester led things off on the hill for Coppell. He lasted two and two-thirds innings, allowing eight hits and four runs while striking out one and walking one. Andrew Schultz came in out of the pen next going 2.1 innings allowing no hits and no earned runs. Will Boylan came in and shut the door going 2 scoreless innings.
Coppell smacked two home runs on the day. Pompey went for the long ball in the sixth inning. Walker Polk went yard in the sixth inning making it his 6th on the year.
The win gives Coppell the series lead in this Regional Quarterfinal Matchup. Next game is Friday, May 20th at 7:30 in Little Elm. Come out and support your Cowboys!
