The Coppell Cowboys battled throughout the night but came up short against Hebron, falling 6–1 in district play Friday at Cowboy Field.
Hebron got on the board early with a run in the first inning, but Coppell starter Zander Montgomery settled in and kept the Cowboys within reach. The Oregon commit worked through several tough innings and delivered key strikeouts to limit further damage.
Coppell cut into the lead in the fourth inning. Kane Frost reached base and later came around to score when a throw to second during a stolen base attempt sailed into center field, bringing the Cowboys within a run and giving Coppell momentum.
Hebron responded with a big inning in the fifth to extend its lead, and the Hawks were able to hold off the Cowboys the rest of the way.
Coppell continued to battle at the plate and on the bases but could not string together the timely hits needed to close the gap.
The Cowboys will look to regroup as district play continues next week. We play at home against Guyer on Tuesday at 7:00 PM.
