Coppell Volleyball opened district play with a 3-1 road win over Richardson on Tuesday night at Richardson High School.

The Cowgirls won the first two sets 25-11 and 25-21 before Richardson took the third 26-24. Coppell answered in the fourth with a 25-20 win to close out the match.

Brooke Felix led the Cowgirls with 18 kills, eight digs and three blocks. Finley Penniman added 10 kills and five blocks, while Taylor Mechsner finished with eight kills.

Zoey Ponsen recorded 38 assists, 16 digs and three blocks. Hailey Chew added 14 digs.

The win improved Coppell to 12-6 overall and 1-0 in district play.

The JV team also earned a win, defeating Richardson 2-1 by scores of 20-25, 25-20 and 25-10. The 9A team lost 1-2, while 9B won 2-0 with a pair of 25-22 set victories.
