The Coppell Cowgirls made a determined second-half push Tuesday night but came up just short in a 40–35 loss to Allen in the bi-district round of the UIL Girls Basketball Playoffs.
The first half proved challenging for Coppell, as Allen’s ball pressure and offensive movement made it difficult for the Cowgirls to consistently defend the ball. Coppell battled defensively but struggled to slow Allen’s tempo, heading into halftime trailing after a tough opening two quarters.
After the break, the Cowgirls responded with urgency.
Coppell tightened its defense, applying aggressive on-ball pressure and jumping passing lanes to create turnovers. Those defensive stops quickly turned into scoring opportunities, allowing the Cowgirls to stack points and swing momentum back in their favor.
Avary Campbell led Coppell with 15 points, providing a steady offensive presence and helping ignite the second-half comeback. Prisha Kolhe added 9 points, knocking down timely shots as Coppell closed the gap and kept pressure on Allen.
The Cowgirls’ energy was matched by an electric crowd, which erupted with every steal, stop, and basket as Coppell pushed late into the fourth quarter. Amber Coffey and Mallory Cooper each contributed during the surge, helping sustain intensity on both ends of the floor as the Cowgirls fought to flip the outcome.
Despite the late rally, Coppell was unable to fully erase the deficit and fell by five points in a hard-fought playoff battle.
Though the season ended in the bi-district round, the Cowgirls’ second-half response reflected the resilience, effort, and defensive identity of the program, closing the year with a performance that embodied Cowgirl basketball.
