The Coppell boys basketball team turned in a disciplined, defense-first performance Thursday night, earning a 51–36 road victory over Denton Guyer.
Coppell set the tone early by controlling the tempo and forcing Guyer into tough possessions. The Cowboys held Guyer to 36 points while consistently winning key stretches with defensive stops and efficient offense execution. Coppell built its advantage by limiting second-chance opportunities and converting turnovers into points at the other end.
Offensively, the Cowboys attacked inside and played through the paint, shooting over 45 percent on two-point attempts while sharing the ball effectively. Coppell finished with 13 assists and kept mistakes to a minimum, allowing the offense to stay organized throughout the night.
The Cowboys also made the most of their trips to the free throw line, converting 6 of 11 attempts, and maintained control late by closing out possessions on the defensive glass. Coppell finished with a +15 scoring margin and held Guyer scoreless on several key stretches in the second half.
Multiple players contributed across the lineup, reflecting a balanced team effort on both ends of the floor. Coppell’s ability to stay connected defensively and execute in the half-court proved to be the difference as the Cowboys secured an important district road win.
Colin Griffith led the Cowboys offensively, finishing with 15 points while providing steady scoring and physical play inside. Robert Watson complemented that effort with strong defense and interior presence, helping Coppell control the paint and limit Guyer’s second-chance opportunities. Together, their two-way impact anchored Coppell’s performance and set the tone in the Cowboys’ 51–36 road win
