The Coppell Cowgirls delivered a statement win on the road Tuesday night, upsetting the Braswell Bengals 33–26 in a defensive battle between two previously unbeaten district teams.
From the opening tip, Coppell embraced the physicality and pace of a high-stakes district matchup. The Cowgirls leaned on disciplined half-court defense, contesting every possession and forcing Braswell into difficult shots throughout the night.
Offensively, Coppell relied on timely execution and poise. Adriana Reijnen anchored the Cowgirls on both ends of the floor, providing interior scoring and rim protection. Ashley Hall and Molly Crawford delivered key baskets and rebounds, while Prisha Kolhe and Avery Shortino helped manage tempo and create scoring opportunities against Braswell’s pressure defense.
Defensively, Avary Campbell was instrumental in slowing Braswell’s guard play, bringing relentless on-ball pressure and high energy throughout the game. Her effort, along with Coppell’s collective defensive commitment, helped the Cowgirls control momentum and limit Braswell’s scoring opportunities late.
The game remained tight into the second half, but Coppell separated itself with a strong defensive stand in the fourth quarter, holding Braswell to limited looks and closing the game with confident free throws and smart ball movement.
The win not only handed Braswell its first district loss, but also underscored Coppell’s identity as a tough, connected, and resilient group capable of winning on the road in hostile environments.
With the 33–26 victory, the Cowgirls remain unbeaten in district play and will look to carry that momentum forward as district competition continues.
