Cowgirls Open Second Round of District With Sweep of Richardson

Coppell Volleyball opened the second round of District 7-6A play Friday night with a 3-0 sweep of Richardson at CHS Arena, winning 25-23, 25-12, 25-14.

After a tight opening set, the Cowgirls took control of the match. Coppell held Richardson to 26 combined points over the final two sets to complete the sweep and improve to 15-10 overall and 4-4 in district play.

Brooke Felix led the attack with 13 kills and seven digs. Taylor Mechsner and Finley Penniman each added nine kills, with Penniman also recording three blocks. Taliah Ellis finished with four blocks, while Hailey Chew had 10 digs and four aces.

Emma Rose recorded 21 assists, and Chenoa Bell added 12 assists as Coppell used multiple contributors to run the offense.

It was a clean sweep throughout the program Friday. JV won 25-17, 25-18, while 9A won 25-17, 25-21. The 9B team rallied after dropping its opening set to win 20-25, 25-21, 25-11.

The victory gives Coppell a strong start to the second half of district play as the Cowgirls continue their push for a postseason spot.
