Coppell Swim & Dive continued its early-season Thursday, Oct. 1, competing against Southlake Carroll and Timber Creek at the Southlake Carroll Natatorium. In the team's first tri-meet of the season, several Cowboys and Cowgirls dropped time and earned race victories.
Felix Shi delivered one of Coppell's biggest improvements in the 100-yard freestyle, dropping from 57.14 to 53.77 seconds. Virginia Hall also posted a significant personal best in the 50-yard freestyle, improving from 28.92 to 27.24 seconds.
The meet provided another early-season opportunity for Coppell's swimmers to establish times and continue progressing after opening the year at the Ranger Relays.
It was also a homecoming of sorts for assistant coach Marieke Mastebroek, who returned to the Southlake Natatorium for the first time since 2021. Mastebroek had an opportunity to reconnect with former colleagues Paul Wallace of Keller Timber Creek and Kevin Murphy of Southlake Carroll.
Coppell continues a busy opening stretch of its season as the Cowboys and Cowgirls build toward their larger invitational and championship meets later this year.
