Coppell Volleyball closed the first round of district play Tuesday with a 3-1 loss at Plano West, falling 23-25, 30-28, 19-25, 18-25.

The Cowgirls pushed the Wolves through two tight opening sets, including a 30-28 second-set win that evened the match at 1-1. Plano West answered by taking the third and fourth sets to finish off the match.

Brooke Felix led Coppell with 22 kills and 16 digs, while Zoey Ponsen recorded 49 assists. Finley Penniman finished with seven blocks, and Hailey Chew added 16 digs.

The loss moved Coppell to 14-10 overall and 3-4 in district play at the halfway point of the District 7-6A schedule. The Cowgirls remain in the playoff race, sitting one match behind the current fourth-place spot with seven district matches remaining.

Next up, Coppell begins the second half of district play Friday, Oct. 2, hosting Richardson at 6:30 p.m. at CHS Arena.

The JV earned a 2-0 win, taking both sets 25-21. The 9A team fell 19-25, 24-26, while 9B rallied for a 2-1 win, 20-25, 25-21, 28-26.
