The Coppell Cowboys opened their season with a pair of impressive victories over Wakeland and Heritage on August 3 at the Coppell High School Tennis Courts.

Fueled by strong team chemistry and enthusiastic support from teammates throughout the day, Coppell earned an 11-8 win in the morning match before dominating the afternoon rematch, 17-2.

In the first match against Wakeland, the Cowboys built momentum by winning five of seven doubles contests. Boys doubles teams Kasi Kavali and Ethan Yang and Eshaan Reddy and Prabhat Pandey earned convincing victories, while Varsha Sivaprasad and Gloria Sun and Mihika Modi and Anna Hartley won their girls doubles matches in straight sets. Ryan Juramongkol and Chloe Ahmad rallied after dropping the opening set to win a dramatic mixed doubles match in a third-set tiebreak.

Coppell continued its strong play in singles. Ethan Yang earned a commanding 4-2, 4-0 victory over Ediz Bostanci, while Steve Jack battled back for an 11-9 third-set tiebreak win. Eshaan Reddy, Abhijay Mantena, and Prabhat Pandey also picked up straight-set victories, and Madison Fang completed an impressive comeback with a 10-8 super tiebreak win.

The afternoon match against Heritage showcased Coppell's depth, with numerous younger players stepping into the lineup and delivering key wins. The Cowboys swept all four boys doubles matches, highlighted by victories from Abhijay Mantena and Arnav Ambegaonkar, Sunny Tupurani and Ivan Morales, Ohm Patel and Samarth Ravi, and Shaurya Arora and Ani Naveen, who rallied for a 10-8 super tiebreak victory.

On the girls' side, doubles teams Anusha Patki and Madison Fang and Morgan Fang and Sofia Rothey each earned wins, while Prathamesh Jaikumar and Ananya Miyapuram added another point in mixed doubles.

Coppell also found success in singles play. Wins from Arnav Ambegaonkar, Ivan Morales, Prathamesh Jaikumar, Ohm Patel, Samarth Ravi, Shaurya Arora, Srushti Shelar, and Aditi Tirumala helped secure the afternoon victory.

One of the day's standout performances came from Ethan Yang, who defeated Ediz Bostanci in straight sets, 4-2, 4-0.

Despite Wakeland bringing plenty of energy and loud cheers throughout the matches, the Cowboys stayed focused and continued to build momentum in both contests.

With the two victories, Coppell improves to 2-0 on the young season.
