There's a lot that happened at District on Friday. Here is a recap:
Virginia Hall
Achieved a PB in her 50, 100, and 200 freestyle in the same race, qualifying for regionals with a 6th place finish only 0.49 seconds ahead of 7th place
26 second drop in the 500 freestyle to put her within 8 seconds of the TISCA cut
Gabe Campos
Finished the meet with three golds, one silver, and was declared male swimmer of the meet
Swam on the 200 Freestyle Relay with Dylan Moreno, Saurab Anjanappa, and Aleksandar Mikic which won gold and broke the Coppell school record
Made the difference in the boys 400 freestyle relay, which overcame a deficit in the final 50 yards to overcome the leading Plano Senior relay
Annie Chang
Gold medalist in the 100 breaststroke by a mere 0.07 seconds, bronze medalist in the 50 freestyle by 0.2 seconds
Joined by Emma Wei, Alice Lu, and Brynlee McCormick in the 200 freestyle relay that out-touched Plano Senior by just 0.33 seconds for the silver medal
Chased down Plano West as the anchor to grab 2nd place in the 400 freestyle relay
Emery Darrow and Auttumn Ayakawa
Finished 2nd and 3rd in the 1m 11-dive event, earning 13 points combined - the exact margin of victory over Plano West, who brought no divers to the event. Just like last year, diving made the difference.
Abhinav Agnihotri
Gold medalist in the 50 freestyle, winning the event by more than half a second
Silver medalist in the 100 backstroke, out-touching Hudson Roybal by only 0.02 seconds
Aleksandar Mikic
An inspiring execution of race strategy in the 100 butterfly was enough to win gold over two Plano Senior swimmers, who each fell short of his performance by only 0.32 and 0.42 seconds respectively
Won gold in both relays he participated in, breaking the school record in one and coming close in the other
