A slow start to the tourney, with the MacArther Cardinals (7-9) keeping the score close in the first quarter. Ella Spiller and Landry Sherrer were able to keep the Cowgirls alive throughout the game with their many charges Eventually after halftime, the Cowgirls were able to create a bigger divide against the Cardinals with a final score of 57-26. The second game the Cowgirls and the Blazers kept the score close early as well 13-13. By the end of the half, the Cowgirls were able to keep a consistent lead with a score of 30-22. Jules LaMendola, Ella Spiller, and Macey Mercer we’re able to lead the Cowgirls to victory by creating open spaces and scoring points. The final score of the game was 63-50. The Cowgirls took on the North Little Rock Charging Wildcats (the most recent 6A State Champs of Arkansas) on Day 2. The Cowgirls started off slow scoring 7 in the first. Macey Mercer, Ella Spiller, and Julianna LaMendola were able to score multiple 3’s getting the Cowgirls to be up at the end of the first half, 26-23. In the third quarter, the Cowgirls were able to increase their lead by 11 with a score of 45-34. With a tough last quarter, the Cowgirls exceeded expectations and won 55-50. Cowgirls vs. SGP was game #4, the Cowgirls started off confidently with the score at the end of the first quarter being 11-10, Cowgirls. By the end of the half the Cowgirls were up 23-20. By the end of the third the Cowgirls were up 36-27 due to a charge by Ella Spiller and the overall ball movement made the whole team. In the fourth quarter the Cowgirls played well and ended up winning 46-38. Julianna LaMendola led the way with 23 points. Allyssa Potter also made an impact with her many 3’s. A huge win. Four wins put the cowgirls in the championship game. The Cowgirls started off the championship game by being on top but with a minute remaining the Wolves were able to take the 1st quarter lead with a score of 12-14. At halftime the Cowgirls were down 16-24. With the Cowgirls shots not going in, they continued to be down throughout the third quarter eventually defeated by the Timberview Wolves 44-34, this being their first loss of the season.
