Coppell Chases Goals at Jesuit Cross Country Classic

The Coppell Cross Country team wrapped up the regular cross country season at the Jesuit XC Classic on Saturday, October 2. The 5K course located at Prestonwood Polo and Country Club in Oak Point was flat and fast. Coppell took advantage of the course layout; athletes recorded fast times against district opponents Plano, Plano West, and Plano East. This meet was also an opportunity to reflect on the team motto for the 2021 Cross Country Season, “Carry The Tradition”.
Coppell has a reputation for having a strong cross country program. “CTT” was chosen by the athletes as a reminder of where the team has been and as a challenge to continue the tradition.

Waverly Hassman led the girls; she finished in 37th place with a time of 19 minutes, 40 seconds. Mallory Sherrer was right behind her (40th, 19:51). Alexa Turati (59th, 20:06), Elizabeth Grace Walker, and Aria Juma rounded out the point scorers for the cowgirls this week.

The Coppell boys clinched 1st place overall in the JV division. Senior Jeevan Janeev won the JV division with a time of 17:07. James Tan (2nd, 17:20), Samarth Dubey (3rd, 17:27), Cameron Churchill-Dowd and Cole Stehly contributed to the first place team score.
