The Coppell Cowboys delivered a statement performance at the Frank Halloran Ranger Classic, one of the premier high school wrestling showcases in the Texas Metroplex. Held annually at Jesuit College Preparatory School of Dallas, the tournament draws more than 500 competitors from across Texas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas and serves as a key measuring stick as teams move toward the postseason.
The 2026 Ranger Classic took place January 16–17 across multiple venues on the Jesuit Dallas campus, including Walsh Gym, the Auxiliary Gym, and the Terry Center. Designed to test depth, conditioning, and bonus-point production, the tournament consistently features elite regional competition and is regarded as a bridge between the regular season and championship play.
Coppell rose to the challenge, finishing first overall with 168 team points, and separated itself offensively by leading the entire field with 378 total match points, the highest team total at the event. The Cowboys’ ability to score consistently across weight classes proved decisive in a tightly contested team race.
Bonus-point wrestling played a major role in Coppell’s success. The Cowboys led the tournament in technical falls and ranked among the top teams in total pins, demonstrating an aggressive, attack-minded approach that pressured opponents from the opening whistle.
Individually, younger Coppell wrestlers made key contributions throughout the lineup, including a championship finish by Junior Pedro Ibarra. There were runner-up finishes by sophomores Sebastian Ramos at 138 pounds, Liam Urick at 130 pounds, and Ethan Pate at 215 pounds. Duncan Ross and Roman Estes were third; there was a fourth-place showing by Max Tatsumi at 190.
The Frank Halloran Ranger Classic remains one of the most competitive and visible wrestling events in the region. Coppell’s performance reinforced the Cowboys’ identity as a deep, aggressive, and postseason-ready contender as the season enters its most important stretch.
The next match is at home versus Plano. It will be Senior Night this Wednesday at 6 PM
