Arlington ISD hosted the first annual Ivo-Lane Invitational on Friday and Saturday, honoring past coaches who seeded their programs. It is the final meet the Cowboys will be attending before Districts, making it the final opportunity for JV swimmers to make their push into the District squad and secure a place in Varsity.
Various 5A and 6A schools, including all Arlington ISD, Paschall, Azle, Aledo, Eaton, LD Bell, and others, were competing.
Many swimmers dropped PRs, particularly in the sprint freestyle events. The girls' team overperformed massively, placing 4th overall with a relatively small squad.
Margaret Tse dropped a combined 10 seconds between the 200, 100, and 50 freestyle.
It was challenging because the scoreboard stopped working at the beginning of the finals session, so coaches went back to the old-school way of taking stopwatch splits during meets.
