Coppell opened the Coppell Winter Classic with two wins in contrasting fashion, outlasting Bishop Lynch in overtime before turning in a composed 73–61 victory over Birdville.

The opener against Bishop Lynch was a test of composure. The game featured constant momentum swings, with Bishop Lynch pushing tempo and challenging Coppell defensively throughout regulation. Neither team was able to create sustained separation, setting the stage for overtime.

In the extra period, Coppell responded with maturity. The Cowboys attacked the paint, moved the ball with purpose, and stayed disciplined defensively. Key stops and smart decisions on both ends allowed Coppell to gradually pull away, closing the game with poise in overtime.

That hard-fought win carried over into the second matchup of the day, where Coppell settled in and took control against Birdville. The Cowboys established balance offensively and tightened up defensively after halftime, gradually extending the lead and limiting Birdville’s opportunities.

Colin Griffith led Coppell with 19 points, providing consistent scoring in the half-court. Robert Watson added 12, while Sebastian Pena finished with 11, giving Coppell multiple scoring threats throughout the lineup. Malachi Jackson contributed 9 points, and Sibusiso Ncube-Socks added 8, helping the Cowboys maintain steady pressure.

Coppell also made its presence felt on the boards, led by Levi Owira’s 9 rebounds and Pena’s 8, finishing defensive possessions and creating second-chance opportunities at key moments.
