Coppell Girls Golf Qualifies for State with Third-Place Finish at Regionals
The Coppell girls golf team is headed back to the UIL State Tournament.
The Cowgirls finished third overall at the 6A Region I Tournament at Tangle Ridge Golf Club with a two-day team total of 616. Coppell opened with a 304 on Tuesday and followed with a 312 on Wednesday to punch its ticket back to state and earn the chance to defend last year’s state championship.
Nethra Sheri led Coppell with a two-round total of 149, shooting an even-par 72 in the opening round before carding a 77 on day two. Isabella Nguyen followed with a 154 after rounds of 75 and 79, while Riya Bapna finished at 156 and bounced back with a strong 74 in round two after opening with an 82. Adira Navarathinam added a 157 with rounds of 75 and 82, and Sabrina Tam posted a 177 over the two-day event.
Southlake Carroll won the regional title with a 580, while Flower Mound placed second at 612. Coppell’s 616 secured the third and final qualifying spot, sending the Cowgirls back to the biggest stage of the season.
The Girls State Golf Tournament will be held Monday and Tuesday, May 4-5, at the TPC Oaks Course in San Antonio.
