The Coppell boys wrestling team delivered a strong showing at the UIL Region I-6A Tournament, highlighted by a state qualification and an additional wrestler earning alternate status.
Pedro Ibarra placed third in 165, officially qualifying for the UIL State Wrestling Tournament. His podium finish secured one of the region’s allotted spots, advancing him to the highest level of postseason competition.
Additionally, Sebastian Ramos earned the role of state alternate after his performance at 138 pounds. As an alternate, Ramos is eligible to compete at the state tournament should a qualifying wrestler be unable to participate prior to weigh-ins.
The Cowboys also had multiple wrestlers compete in championship and consolation rounds against one of the deepest regional fields in Texas.
We placed 12th overall. Coppell’s performance at regionals reflects the program’s continued growth and competitiveness within Region I-6A, with both state representation and valuable postseason experience gained across the lineup.
