BASEBALL BEGINS AT THE AUSTIN TOURNAMENT

Baseball begins at the Austin Tournament

Baseball opened the 2024 season at the Austin Westlake Tournament. Against tough competition, the tournament was capped off with a 2-0 victory versus Hutto. The Hutto game was tied at zero in the bottom of the sixth when Nick singled, scoring two runs. Noah pitched four innings in relief for the Cowboys striking out 7.

Some other notable performances on the weekend: Cole Mitchell for Coppell had a strong showing on the mound vs New Braunfels coming in to relief pitch 2 innings recording two strike outs, one put out at 1st, two hits, and one earned run.The Coppell Cowboys started off strong in the top of the second inning after Matthew Orr triples to left field. Lucas Fredrick hits a ground ball reaching first and Orr running home to get The Cowboys on the board first. We had Braden Beene starting on the mound striking out 2. After a rough bottom second inning the cowboys didn't score again ending the game 3-6.

Against Vandergrift, the Coppell Cowboys caught up to The Vipers in the second inning when Jackson Floren lined out to left field tying the score. Vandergrift, however, came back in the sixth inning with six runs, ending the game with a loss of 2-8. The Cowboys also battled Austin Westlake with Drew getting through 5 innings against a tough lineup. Noah Hoenig went 2 for 2 with a triple and Matthew Orr had a RBI double.

Against Westlake, The Westlake Chaparrals got on the board early in the first inning, but the Coppell Cowboys came back with Noah Hoenig advancing home on a ground ball hit by Matthew Orr. The Coppell Cowboys got ahead in the top of sixth inning scoring two runs when Matthew Orr hit a line drive sending home Joaquine Oaxaca and Noah Hoenig. The Chaparrals fought back in the Sixth inning hitting 2 homers ending the game with a score of 3-9.
