Coming from a 3-1 win against Keller, Cowboys soccer was looking to secure their second win against the Sam Houston Texans. Starting off slow the cowboys gave up a penalty early in the second half leading to Sam Houston being up 1-0 for the majority of the first half. The cowboys had a chance to even the game with Gareth Meza scoring a few minutes after the penalty but it was unfortunately ruled offsides. Seven minutes before the end of the first half Srikar Mulukutla was subbed in at midfield and 3 minutes before the end of the first half was able to score a header off of a corner kick from Preston Taylor to even out the score to 1-1. With the second half rolling in the cowboys kept the same intensity as in the first half and about 15 minutes in sophomore Luis Mendez scored off of a through ball from senior Ari Robicheaux just slightly changing the direction just so that the goalkeeper could not reach it, putting the cowboys up 2-1. Playing defensively the rest of the game the cowboys did not falter and received a well-deserved 2-1 win against the Sam Houston Texans.
