The Cowboy wrestling team had their best district showing in years at the district meet in Wylie. The team is advancing six wrestlers to the Regional Championships. Last year’s square was only able to advance two participants.
The Cowboys were lead by two finalists, Sophomore Cam Girard and Junior, Harsh Halunde. Juniors Kris Salazar and Isaiah Francis and Senior, Simi Socks, were third. These wrestlers each only had one loss to a state ranked competitior. Senior, Collin Bloodworth won an exciting challenge match for the last bout of the night, to wrestle back to fourth place and qualify.
Jacob Abraham was fifth, and is a regional alternate. Hank Manning and Jamie Cameron finished 6th.
The Regional Championships will be February 11 and 12, at Allen High School.
