It came down to the last play, but Coppell Cowgirls Varsity was on the wrong end of an 8-7 defeat to Lewisville on Saturday. The game was tied at seven with Lewisville batting in the bottom of the eighth when #19 singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run. Despite the loss, Coppell Cowgirls Varsity did collect 11 hits in the high-scoring affair. Unfortunately, Lewisville had nine hits on the way to victory. Lewisville captured the lead in the second inning. An error scored one run for Lewisville. In the bottom of the seventh inning, Lewisville tied things up at seven when an error scored two runs for Lewisville. Coppell Cowgirls Varsity put up three runs in the third inning. Dafne Mercado and Anabelle Sigman each had RBIs in the big inning. Lewisville scored four runs in the second inning. #19, #5, and #8 all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning. #2 pitched Lewisville to victory. The ace surrendered seven runs on 11 hits over eight innings, striking out five. Katherine Miller took the loss for Coppell Cowgirls Varsity. The pitcher went seven and a third innings, allowing eight runs on nine hits and striking out seven. Coppell Cowgirls Varsity smacked one home run on the day. Mercado had a long ball in the third inning. Coppell Cowgirls Varsity saw the ball well today, racking up 11 hits in the game. Reagan Stange, Adrianna Erichsen, ElleBelle Zimmerman, and Miller each managed multiple hits for Coppell Cowgirls Varsity. Miller, Zimmerman, Erichsen, and Stange each collected two hits to lead Coppell Cowgirls Varsity. Lewisville had nine hits in the game. #19, #0, and #5 each had multiple hits for Lewisville. #19 went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Lewisville in hits.
