Coppell Swim & Dive turned in another strong performance Tuesday, Oct. 20, at the annual Jonina Meet, with the Cowboys finishing first overall and the Cowgirls taking second. Hosted by Creekview High School at the CFBISD Natatorium in Carrollton, the meet brought together swimmers and divers from Coppell, Creekview and Northwest.

The competition featured a mix of varsity and JV athletes, giving swimmers and divers from both levels an opportunity to compete in a fast-paced meet. The CFBISD Natatorium also serves as Coppell's regular practice facility, giving the Cowboys and Cowgirls a familiar setting for the afternoon.

Abhinav Agnihotri and Virginia Hall led Coppell's individual performances, with both athletes winning every individual event they entered.

Agnihotri continued his strong October after earning two individual gold medals and a relay gold at the Arlington Lamar Invitational earlier in the month. Hall also built on her Lamar performance, where she captured an individual gold and silver along with two relay bronze medals.

Beyond the results, the Jonina Meet has a unique story behind its creation. The event takes place during the wedding anniversary week of Coppell head coach Jonathan Drori and Creekview coach Nina. With both coaches busy during the heart of swim season, the meet began as a fun way for them to spend time together around their anniversary.

That tradition has continued, bringing their programs together for a competition that combines a little friendly rivalry with a personal connection between the coaches.

For Coppell, the meet added another successful outing to the opening months of the season, with athletes from both the varsity and JV programs gaining competition experience ahead of the remaining fall schedule.
