Coppell Tennis passed one of its toughest tests of the season Saturday, holding off Lake Travis 11-8 at the Coppell High School Tennis Courts to remain undefeated.

Lake Travis immediately tested Coppell’s depth, taking the top two boys doubles lines and pushing No. 3 girls doubles to a deciding super tiebreak. Coppell answered with wins from Eshaan Reddy and Sunny Tupurani, Varsha Sivaprasad and Palkin Gangwal, Anna Hartley and Mihika Modi, and Steve Jack and Gloria Sun to carry a narrow 4-3 lead into singles.

Eshaan Reddy and Sunny Tupurani earned an important boys doubles point with a 6-4, 3-6, 10-5 win. On the girls side, Varsha Sivaprasad and Palkin Gangwal won 6-2, 6-2, while Anna Hartley and Mihika Modi added a 6-1, 6-4 victory.

The Cowgirls continued to produce in singles. Sivaprasad won 6-0, 6-2, Gangwal took her match 6-4, 6-0 and Gloria Sun won 6-1, 6-1.

One of the biggest swings of the match came from Kasi Kavali. Trailing 5-1 in the opening set and facing five match points, Kavali rallied to win the set 7-5 before taking the second 6-1.

The close match gave Coppell a different kind of challenge after several lopsided wins earlier in the season. With Lake Travis pushing the Cowboys and Cowgirls throughout the afternoon, Coppell had to win pressure points and grind through singles rather than rely on a large doubles advantage.

The victory moved Coppell to 16-0 on the season.
