Coppell baseball picked up a huge district win Friday night, shutting out Flower Mound 3-0 on the road to stay firmly in the playoff hunt.
The Cowboys came out swinging and took control early. Jackson Floren led off the game with a triple, and Coppell turned that momentum into a three-run first inning. Cain Frosk brought in the first run with a sacrifice fly, and the Cowboys kept the pressure on from there to build all the cushion they would need.
Floren took it from there and never let Flower Mound settle in. The Coppell right-hander was dominant from start to finish, throwing a complete-game shutout with 10 strikeouts in one of the team’s biggest performances of the season. He also helped his own cause at the plate, finishing 2-for-4 with a triple.
The Cowboys got key contributions throughout the lineup. Frosk went 1-for-1 with a double, RBI, and a walk. Aaron Malick added a double in a 1-for-3 night, Troy Hill drove in a run, and Carson Broom also collected a hit as Coppell made the most of its early chances.
With the win, the Cowboys head into a massive series against Marcus next week with momentum and everything still to play for. Coppell will travel to FM Marcus on Tuesday, April 21, for a critical district showdown.
