Coppell baseball picked up an important district road win Tuesday night, knocking off Braswell 7-2 at the Bill Carrico Athletic Complex. The Cowboys broke the game open with three runs in the third inning, added three more in the sixth, and tacked on another in the seventh to finish with 12 hits in the win.
Coppell out-hit Braswell 12-3 and stayed in control even after the Bengals pushed across two runs in the fifth.
One of the key moments came late in the sixth, when Cade Slayton reached third to help spark another Cowboys rally as Coppell stretched its lead to 6-2. That insurance gave the Cowboys breathing room heading into the final inning, and they added one more in the seventh to put the game away.
Zander Montgomery picked up the win after going four innings with one earned run and five strikeouts, while Luis Perez shut the door with three scoreless innings and four strikeouts for the save.
Aaron Malick paced the offense by going 2-for-5 with a double, a triple, and two RBI. Cade Slaton went 2-for-4 with a triple, Suhoon Cho finished 2-for-4 with an RBI, Dillon Slaton went 2-for-3 with two walks and a stolen base, and Cain Frosk added a double and an RBI.
The next game is at home on Friday at 7 against Braswell.
