The Cowboys delivered a complete performance on both sides of the ball, shutting out Lewisville 10-1 in a decisive district win.
Coppell set the tone early and never looked back, breaking the game open with a five-run third inning and adding insurance runs late. The Cowboys finished with seven hits and played clean defensively, committing no errors.
Junior Suhoon Cho sparked the offense with a home run in the bottom of the second inning and later drove in runs to keep the pressure on. Senior Jackson Floren led the way at the plate with multiple doubles, while senior Cain Frosk added an RBI double in the third. Senior Troy Hill followed with a home run during the same inning, helping Coppell create separation.
The power surge continued in the fourth when senior Dillon Slaton launched a two-run home run, scoring Floren and extending the lead. Coppell’s aggressive approach and timely hitting proved too much for Lewisville to overcome.
On the mound, senior Zander Montgomery controlled the game, highlighted by a strikeout-filled fourth inning that kept Lewisville off balance throughout. The defense backed him up, including the final out turned by Floren at shortstop and Mason Trichel at second base.
Coppell held Lewisville to just three hits in the shutout effort, showcasing a balanced performance of pitching, defense, and timely offense.
The next game is on Thursday, April 2, at 7:00 PM at Lewisville. Because it is Good Friday, there won't be a baseball game on that day.
