Coppell softball put up plenty of offense Tuesday night, but Marcus answered with a big middle stretch to hand the Cowgirls a 14-9 district loss.

Coppell came out swinging and built an early advantage, scoring five runs in the first inning and adding two more in both the third and fourth. The Cowgirls finished with nine runs on 14 hits, but Marcus used an eight-run fourth inning to swing the game and pull away.

Cecilia Bourque continued her hot stretch at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and an RBI. Bourque has now recorded three hits in each of her last three games. Claire Keith also turned in a strong performance, finishing 3-for-5 with a run, a double, and an RBI. Lilija Bowen added a home run and drove in two, while Madison Scott and Abbie Pison each brought home a run.

Despite the offensive production, Coppell could not slow down Marcus late. The Marauders matched the Cowgirls with 14 hits and took advantage of key innings to erase the early deficit. Coppell now sits at 9-14-1 on the season after dropping its second straight game.

The Cowgirls will look to bounce back quickly on Friday when they take on district rival Hebron at 7 p.m. It is our annual Party at the Park. We will have softball, baseball, games, vendors, and festivities.
