Jacob Benavides
Jacob Benavides serves as an Assistant Cross Country Coach and leads an Outdoor Adventure physical education class at Coppell High School. Before joining Coppell ISD, he spent five years as the Athletic Director at Santa Clara Catholic Academy, including four years as the school’s head cross country and track coach. He also coached soccer and distance runners at Bishop Dunne High School.
Benavides earned his degree in Kinesiology from the University of Texas Permian Basin, where he competed in cross country. As a student-athlete at Bishop Dunne, he earned TAPPS Class 5A first-team all-district and all-state cross country honors in consecutive seasons and qualified for the Nike and Foot Locker regional championships.
Benavides coaches to share his enjoyment of running and help athletes develop a relationship with the sport that continues after graduation. He hopes the dedication required in training becomes a work ethic they carry into everyday life.
Outside of school, Benavides enjoys sports, board games, video games, and photography. He also collects lapel pins.
