James Whitley serves as an Assistant Football and Boys Basketball Coach at Coppell High School, working specifically with the defensive tackles during football season. Before joining Coppell, he worked as a teacher and coach at Forestwood Middle School. Whitley was part of the Coppell football staff recognized as the District 5-6A Coaching Staff of the Year.

Whitley focuses on teaching student-athletes to compete with discipline, take responsibility for their roles, and support the people around them. He believes the relationships and habits developed through athletics can continue to shape young people long after their playing careers end.
