James Whitley
Coach James Whitley enters his 1st year at Coppell. He currently serves as the Football, Boys Wrestling, Track. Coach Whitley brings 23 total years of coaching experience. His past coaching experience includes Weatherford H.S.; Yukon H.S. (OK); Santa Fe South H.S. (OK); and Capitol Hill H.S. (OK). An impressive track of success, Coach Whitley posts 1 Team State Championship, 2 Team State Runner-up Track (Weatherford H.S.) / 1 State Championship Football (Weatherford H.S.) / 10 State Qualifiers, 2 State Champions in Powerlifting.
As an athlete, Coach Whitley played Football, Basketball, Track, Cross-Country, Tennis, Powerlifting at White Deer H.S. with tremendous accolades including 1st Team All-District LB. He went on to Southwestern Oklahoma State University earning a B.S. in Health, Physical Ed. and Recreation.
Away from coaching, Coach Whitley enjoys Hunting and Fishing and fun fact, he was a National Champion Snow Shovel Racer. His favorite quote, “Winning is not a sometime thing; it's an all the time thing. You don't win once in a while...you don't do things right once in a while...you do them right all the time. CISD Athletics is filled with coaches that care. When asked “Why you coach”, Coach Whitley responded “I coach to do my part to continue the legacy of all the coaches who came before me and poured their passion and knowledge of athletics into the young athletes of our communities.”
