Coach Abby Martens enters her 17th year at Coppell. She currently serves as the Athletic Coordinator of North MS. Coach Martens brings 17 total years of coaching experience. Her past coaching experience includes Head 8th Volleyball, Head 7th Basketball, and Head Girls Track. With an impressive track of success, Coach Martens has coached Chiaka Ogbogu (USA Volleyball Gold Medal Olympian), and Kassidy & Kylie Pickrell (Professional Volleyball Players in Sweden and France). 

As an athlete, Coach Martens played Volleyball (MH), Basketball (Guard & Post) & Track (TJ & HJ). She went on to North Texas University earning a Kinesiology degree.

Away from coaching, Coach Martens enjoys Camping, fishing, and RZR riding... anything outdoors and fun fact, she would love to live in a small cabin in Colorado writing novels. CISD Athletics is filled with coaches who care. When asked “Why you coach”, Coach Martens responded “I choose to coach middle school kids because that is where you are able to make the biggest impact on a fundamental level. Coaching allows the opportunity to help kids figure out where their skills and passions collide. They are a weird, awkward, and beautiful mess and I love being a small part of their journey!"
