Kate Gilbert

Kate Gilbert serves as the Assistant Athletic Coordinator, coaches volleyball, basketball, and track, and teaches Special Education math at Coppell Middle School East. She has spent her entire Coppell coaching career at East, where she has also coached cross country. Her teams have won district championships in basketball, track and field, and cross country.

A Coppell High School graduate, Gilbert competed in cross country, volleyball, basketball, and track and qualified for the regional cross country meet. She later earned a Bachelor of Science in Social Work from TCU.

Gilbert considers coaching a privilege and an opportunity to walk alongside athletes as they learn to lead with heart, become selfless teammates, and serve something greater than themselves. Inspired by the coaches who encouraged her while growing up, she wants to help students develop resilience through adversity and recognize the difference they can make in the lives of others.

Outside of school, Gilbert enjoys hiking, traveling, following TCU and Arkansas athletics, and spending time with her family. During her days as a Coppell basketball player, she was also known for her memorable Rec-Spec sports goggles.
