Tony Newsome

Coach Tony Newsome enters his 2nd year at Coppell. He currently serves as the CTE Teacher, Assistant Football & Track Coach. Coach Newsome brings 23 total years of coaching experience. His past coaching experience includes Fort Worth ISD - South Hills HS; Fort Worth ISD - Eastern Hills HS, Worth ISD - Paschal HS; Crowley HS; Arlington ISD - Arlington HS; Arlington ISD - Bowie HS; Arlington ISD - Gunn JHS; Plano ISD - Haggard MS. An impressive track of success, Coach Newsome helped develop several athletes that played college football and ran collegiate track; multiple playoffs appearances; and State Track & Field championships multiple times. 


As an athlete, Coach Newsome played football WR at John Marshall HS in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. with tremendous accolades including Academic All-State, All-State Football, All-District Football, Football State Champion. He went on to play Football at SMU University earning a Economics degree.


Away from coaching, Coach Newsome enjoys Watching sports and spending time with his kids. Fun fact, he is a little bit of a geek with it comes to technology. His favorite quote, “Hard work beats talent, when talent doesn't work hard!”


CISD Athletics is filled with coaches that care. When asked “Why you coach”, Coach Newsome responded “I coach because of the impact that teachers, coaches, and athletics had on me. I coach because I want to give back and impact young people. Last, I coach because I love seeing young people succeed.”
