Roxanne Long

Dr. Roxanne Long enter their 2nd year leading the Girls Athletic programs. Bringing a wealth of experience to the role as she served a similar role at Texas Lutheran University. The 2022-2023 season was especially noteworthy in her inaugural year credited with 61% athletes on the honor roll, 174 academic all state recipients, 35 collegiate signees of which 21 were Division I, over 2400 hours of community service, an individual state champion, seven state top ten individuals, two top three state teams, and one top ten state team.


Dr. Long brings 16 total years of coaching experience, 14 of which she served as a head coach. Her past head coaching experience includes Diamond Hill Jarvis High School, Keller Central High School, Texas Lutheran University, and Rogers State University. An impressive track of success, Coach Long posted honors of district coach of the year, Texas high school state coach of the year finalist, college conference coach of the year, and NAIA National tournament appearance.


As an athlete, Dr. Long was a four-sport letter winner for Crowley High School and Crescent Valley High School (OR) in cross country, volleyball, basketball, and track. She earned All-District and All-State honors in basketball and track. She went on to play shooting guard for University of Oklahoma, a three year starter and conference medal award winner. Dr. Long earned an Education Degree, Masters in Education Administration, and Ph.D in Sociology. Dr. Long also serves as Athletic Information Specialist. Away from the office, Dr. Long enjoys anything active outside, mountains and ocean especially. She also watches lots of football as the granddaughter, daughter (dad currently coaching at Syracuse), and niece of football coaches.  Her favorite quote, “Never say never because limits, like fears, are often just an illusion.” - Michael Jordan

Coppell ISD Athletics is filled with coaches that care,  when asked, “Why you coached?” Coach Long responded “I honestly didn’t know any other career was an option. I absolutely loved the strategy and human greatness that came from a group of people working together.” When asked about administrative leadership, Dr. Long views coaching and coaches as one of the greatest avenues to grow kids and appreciates the honor to support the amazing men and women who embark on the coaching journey.
