Ryan Murphy serves as the Head Boys Basketball Coach and teaches World History at Coppell High School. He earned a degree in History from the University of Wisconsin–Parkside and a master’s degree in Special Education from Grand Canyon University.

Before taking leadership of the boys program, Murphy served as Coppell’s Head Girls Basketball Coach. His teams won a district championship and advanced to the 2023 UIL Class 6A State Semifinal, and he earned District 6-6A Coach of the Year honors. Players developed under his leadership have continued their careers in college, including Texas Gatorade Player of the Year Jules LaMendola.

Murphy’s reason for coaching is deeply personal: he wants to be the positive male role model he did not have while growing up. Outside of basketball, he enjoys sports, movies, travel, and can recite every U.S. president in order.
