Coppell Tennis stayed unbeaten with a 15-4 victory over Tyler Legacy on Aug. 29 at the Coppell High School Tennis Center, improving to 9-0 on the season.
The match was close after doubles, with Coppell holding a 4-3 lead. The Cowboys then took control in singles, winning 11 of 12 matches to pull away.
The boys were perfect in the official lineup. Coppell swept all three boys doubles matches before winning all six boys singles lines. Steve Jack was especially strong, teaming with Cody Chow for a 6-4, 6-3 doubles victory before earning an 8-1 singles win.
On the girls side, Palkin Gangwal won both of her matches. She and Anna Hartley battled to a 6-2, 7-6(6) doubles victory, and Gangwal followed with an 8-3 singles win.
Chloe Ahmad also responded well after a close mixed doubles loss, coming back to earn an 8-2 victory in singles. Varsha Sivaprasad, Gloria Sun and Ananya Miyapuram added singles victories for Coppell.
Several additional matches also went Coppell’s way, including wins from Leyton Wang, Prabhat Pandey, Prathamesh Jaikumar and Arnav Ambegaonkar in boys singles and Madison Fang, Rachel Howe and Sofia Rothey in girls singles.
The day also included a birthday celebration for Anna Hartley, with her family providing food for the team between matches.
Coppell’s strong singles performance turned a tight match into another convincing win as the Cowboys remained perfect at 9-0.
